After many attempts at many different programs, I look back now and wonder why I had waited so long to do the obvious. The obvious - work with a "real" nutritionist. Although the initial assessment was much more detailed than what I am used to, in the back of mind I was thinking "this is starting to all sound the same again". But then clarity became the name of the game as metabolic typing and Ayurveda was explained, and I developed an understanding of myself. By taking the full seven step program, I believe I gave myself the greatest gift as I now have the knowledge of what works best for me and why. I have the confidence in myself to make the best decisions, and know where to turn if I need assistance. For the first time that I can remember, I am not self-absorbed about my weight.

As a registered nurse, the information that I learned about nutrition and health seemed generic in a "one size fits all" approach. I was seeking a learning process for my own health whereby the educator recognized the individuality of each person and his/her health goals. It was wonderful to meet Amy and to learn what would benefit me in my personal approach to health, starting with nutrition. Amy's solid knowledge base, her awareness of the need to continue to keep updated on health information, and her calm, nonjudgmental approach to helping me help myself have been more beneficial than I could have imagined. It's been an exciting and fun journey that has significantly improved my health, wellness, and energy level. My husband and daughter have also enjoyed learning from Amy and have been thrilled with improving their health and well-being. Thank you, Amy!

July 4, 2007, I had my first appointment with Amy (Bondar) about my weight. I had read the health books, tried the diets, attended a gym for the past 10 years, and even though I ate healthy and was fairly active, I was 80 pounds above my ideal weight. On our second meeting Amy put my file aside and said "food isn't your problem, let's talk about your emotions." Emotions? I have no emotions that I want to talk about!!! I could actually feel that invisible wall of mine start to climb and I wanted to leave, or eat a big bag of potato chips…okay, maybe she was on to something. I learned about values that day and I learned that I wasn't living up to who I truly was inside. I also learned that I was afraid to get hurt and therefore I isolated myself from anyone who could hurt me, and in turn I pushed people out of my life who I held closest to my heart, because they could hurt me the most. I learned that I substituted that lost love with food. And most importantly, I learned that as long as I held on to the resentments, the hurt, the anger and the pain from the past, I also held on to the weight. With Amy's help I learned all of this in 3 meetings and at her suggestion I attended Dr. Demartini's 2 day Breakthrough seminar and I broke, in the most loving way, wide open. I broke through old beliefs, I broke through hate, I broke through years of hurt and I broke through all the pain I was holding on to, and I was free. Back in 1994 I cut off contact with my older sister, she was 26 and I was 24. Thanks to the Breakthrough seminar, I spent Christmas with my Sister and her family. I reunited with my brother-in-law, I met both my nephew (11) and my niece (7) for the first time. I talked for hours with my sister, I answered questions from my niece and nephew about where I'd been, I played games, I tickled, I hugged and for the first time in 13 years I wasn't angry, I wasn't hurt, I wasn't afraid….I was loved, and so very much in-love with this family of mine. I also realized that one of my top values is philanthropy, and I am now a World Vision sponsor of a little boy in Bangladesh and I raised $1300 this Christmas to buy farm animals for families not as fortunate as ourselves. I now volunteer at several non-profit organizations, and the company I work for has implemented a new Sponsorship & Community Involvement Program that I also volunteer for as often as work permits. I went to Amy looking for a new perspective on nutrition and I left with a new perspective on life. Thank you Amy for showing me how to find my passions through my highest values, for seeing my pain and guiding me past it and for showing me that food is no substitute for love.
